Work day announcement! Board Meeting! Next Season! Christmas Show!

(UPDATE:  Scholarship forms are available via links on the right sidebar of the site.  DOC and PDF formats available.)

Greetings everyone!

WORK DAY: We will continue the strike of the pirate Haunted House set on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 9 a.m. at the Playhouse. Lots to do so as many volunteers who show up, the better. Thanks to those who showed up to help build the set, volunteered to be in the haunt and especially to those who worked on the first strike day.

BOARD MEETING: The Board of Directors will meet on Monday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. at the Playhouse. Agenda items include discussion of the awards gala and 2012 season.

NEXT SHOW: The next production at the Playhouse will be in conjunction with the Hobbs High School drama class, directed by Summer Robinson Rickman. The show dates are Dec. 8, 9, 10. Tickets are available through Summer or will be at the door. The three acts are the advance classes performing “The Gift of the Magi”, Accidental Harmony performing Christmas Carols and act three is the begnning theater classes performing “Ebenezer’s Christmas Carol."

SCHOLARSHIPS: It is that time of year again for the Carl Busch Scholarships. Scholarships forms are due Dec. 17. The form can be found on the Playhouse's website (or will be there shortly). Every year, the Playhouse attempts to give several small scholarships to individuals going to college. Recipients are required to help or have helped at the Playhouse. Be smart and fill out an application if you qualify.

2012 SEASON: Next season has not been determined yet but we will be looking at things shortly. The Artistic Advisory Board has met and now it will be up to the Board of Directors. If you have preferences, ideas, etc., please make an effort to speak to a board member about your thoughts.

CHRISTMAS FLOAT: Erin Miller-Gibbs is looking at entering the annual Hobbs Christmas parade on behalf of the Playhouse. If interested in helping, please contact her.

THANK YOU: A big thank you goes to Carey Linder's father and Lasco Construction. They donated insulation that we will be able to use in our costume room. Once we get it put up, it should help keep your toesies a little more toasty in the winter and cooler in the summer.

IT COMMITTEE: I will be asking the board to formally approve Robert Schumacher to head up an Internet technology committee. It is time the Playhouse gets serious about doing online ticketing and credit/debit cards. If you are interested, contact myself or Robert (who I have basically volunteered with this email so he could still back out but I hope not LOL). I will be the board liaison to this committee but I R not good at that computin' stuff.

Also, don't forget to mark your calendar for Christmas Traditions Around the World at the Western Heritage Museum on Dec. 1 as well Maciolek School of Dance's Nutcracker Suite on Dec. 2-4 (if tickets are still available. They sell quickly).

Your "coming to the end of my four year term on the board" president,
