Playhouse reminders, "Home Front" tickets on sale, and more

Happy Labor Day!

HOME FRONT: A reminder that "Home Front" tickets go on sale today from 4-6 p.m. and continue through the rest of the week at that same time. You may also purchase tickets at the door the evening of the performance. The drama illuminates the dilemma of a middle-class Texas family unable to comprehend and deal with the deep-seated disaffection of their Vietnam veteran son. The action is set in a comfortable suburban home in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where Bob and Maurine, a fairly well-off middle-aged couple, are living (apparently happily) with their daughter Karen, a graduate student, and their brooding son, Jeremy, who has recently returned from service in Vietnam. It is Thanksgiving Day, 1973, and they are furiously preparing for the imminent arrival of relatives for a family dinner.

Show dates are Sept. 9, 10, at 8 p.m.; Sept. 11 at 2 p.m.; and Sept. 16 and 17 at 8 p.m. at the Hobbs Community Playhouse, 1700 N. Grimes. Tickets are for sale Sept. 5-10 and Sept. 13-17. Tickets are $10. Tickets are $5 for active duty military or retired veterans. The show contains adult themes and adult language. The show is directed by Bill Raabe and assisted by Erin Miller Gibbs.

2012 SEASON: Just a reminder for those considering directing. We will need to be setting next season and this requires people to submit shows they would like to direct. Deadline is Sept. 26. The board will then decide on the 2012 season.

UPCOMING: Following "Home Front" will be the second annual Haunted Halloween House directed by Juston Harlin and assisted by Erin Anderson.

OTHER: Hobbs High School's production of The Night is My Enemy will be Oct. 1 and 2. Tickets go on sale Sept. 26.

I'm sure there is something else but that is all for now.
