Board meeting announcement...and...THE AIR CONDITIONING IS FIXED!

Greetings all!

BOARD meeting: We will be holding a board meeting Monday, June 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the Playhouse.

AIR CONDITIONING: The board met in an emergency meeting Thursday, June 9, to discuss the air conditioning. As some of you know, two out of three air conditioning units went out on the building the prior week. Jay Patton was able to put a borrowed unit on the building so we limped through the show Beauty and the Beast with only two units working. The board voted on June 9 to replace the units with four new units. Jay's Inc. has done the work at cost. Thank you Jay. As I write this, the units are in and up and running.

BEAUTY: Beauty had sold out crowds the final four days. Thank you for everyone in helping making this musical happen. Despite the heat, the universal response from the crowds was how much they loved the show. I'll give more details in a later email.

WILLY WONKA: The youth workshop/camp begins this coming week. If you know of a student who wishes to participate, see Ronnie Gray or Sandy Goad as soon as possible. They will likely be down at the Playhouse. : )

Daniel Russell

Beauty and the Beast and Willy Wonka Jr.

TWO REMINDERS

BEAUTY and the BEAST has opened.
Shows continue tonight at 8 p.m., Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. and again next week (Thur-Sat at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.) Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance at the Center for the Arts, 122 W. Broadway, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m Tues-Fri and 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

The BOX OFFICE is also open at the Playhouse beginning at 6 p.m. each night of each evening performance so you can purchase tickets for that night's show or purchase a ticket for another night's show.

This Disney musical will delight all and is real crowd pleaser. A quote of one patron from Thursday night... "I would have paid $30 to see this."

TRIVIA: How many new faces are seen on stage at Beauty and the Beast?

WILLY WONKA Jr. signups are going on now. This is the youth summer workshop that begins on June 20 and goes for five weeks and ends with performances July 21-24. The musical is based on the movie script that we all know and love. Participants are can be between 9-16 years old. Sign up at the Center for the Arts or download a form at www.communityplayersofhobbs.com or at www.lcca.us. This is always a popular production for our young people and only features them. Everyone who is part of the camp is given a part. Shows will be directed by Sandy Goad and Ronnie Gray. Be an OOMPA LOOMPA ... and learn lots about theater!

TRIVIA answer: After a quick count, there are approximately 19 new faces gracing the Playhouse stage! How awesome is that?
