Updates from President Russell

Salutations Playhouse people!

STEEL MAG Update: The show has been cast and rehearsals underway. I don't have the cast list but I know it has some brand new faces to the Hobbs stage, a few current acting veterans and a few veterans who have not been on stage in a long while. Very exciting. As always, they can use assistance in getting the set built, etc. The show dates are Oct. 2, 3, 4 and Oct. 9,10.

BOARD MEETING: We will have a board meeting on Monday, Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. at the Hobbs Playhouse. Items on the agenda include naming a new board member to replace Janice Spence and possible by-law change proposals. (The by-law change proposal would eventually require the approval of the entire Playhouse family)

2010 SEASON: Again, as a reminder we are seeking submissions to set our 2010 season. If you would like to direct a show, please submit your idea. A form is available at www.communityplayersofhobbs.com. You can submit your proposals to myself or Mary Lyle.

Your "run out of time again this week" president,

Daniel Russell

The form for play submissions is available in the sidebar on the left or in the heading section above.

Only one more show this season! Don't forget the dates, "Steel Magnolias" - October 2, 3, 4, 9, 10.

See you at the shows!

A letter from Daniel, and a request for set building assistance

Break out the power tools! It's time to build a set for "Steel Magnolias":

STEEL SET HELP:
Chuck is back, Chuck is back, Chuck is back!
Chuck Wilson will be building the Steel Magnolias set for his mom, Suzanne Wilson-Wuest.
But..... He is requesting some help.

He will be at the Playhouse at 1 p.m. this Saturday to put up flats and is requesting able bodies come down and help hold or screw them into place.

Let me know if you can make it. I'll be there myself. Should only take a few hours to put up the walls.

AUDITIONS:
Don't forget auditions for Steel Magnolias is this Sunday and Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Playhouse.

2010 SEASON:
If you are interested in directing in 2010, please submit your proposal by Sept. 15. Forms are available on the Web site at www.communityplayersofhobbs.com. You can turn them into myself or Mary Lyle.

Your "its a long Thursday" president,

Daniel Russell

Don't forget auditions for "Steel Magnolias"...as Daniel indicated, they are August 16th and 17th at 6:30 PM at the Playhouse.

News you've ALL been waiting for..."Steel Magnolias" audition dates and deadlines for submissions for next season's shows

From Daniel Russell:

Greetings!

A few announcements folks have been wanting ...

AUDITIONS: Auditions for "Steel Magnolias" will be held on Sunday and Monday, August 16 and 17 at 6:30 p.m. The all-female cast will be directed by Suzanne Wilson-Wuest. If you can't make the audition dates, you will need to contact Suzanne at 392-2414. This is the final show of the season! Show dates are Oct. 2-4 and Oct. 9-10.

2010 SEASON: It is time to start determining next season's shows, so we're calling on potential directors to submit their proposals. Please consider directing and submitting more than one proposal. The deadline to submit a proposal is Sept. 15. You can turn in proposals to myself or Mary Lyle. Proposals form is available by clicking here (Word format) or here (PDF format). Many people will be reading the submissions and then recommendations will be given to the board for final approval for a slate of shows. As always, the season will be based on getting a variety of shows and interests represented on the stage as well as meeting audience and artistic desires, etc., etc.

Your "That's all for now" president,

Daniel Russell

Directors/potential directors, click here for the submission form (Word format) or here (PDF format). You can submit them to Daniel or Mary, or email them to the Playhouse (see the email link on the left side of the website) and they will get forwarded on to Daniel and Mary.
